Overview:
This position interfaces with all levels of corporate management and branch personnel.
Responsibilities include monthly and quarterly closings, account reconciliations, performing financial analysis, preparing various reports and financial statements, generating adjusting, and closing journal entries, sales and cost of sales review, commission computations, intercompany transfers and reconciliations, sales tax reporting and physical inventory observations.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Perform accurate and timely monthly and quarterly general ledger closings.
Perform account analysis and reconciliations.
Assist in the supervision of the accounting department staff.
Assist branches with G/L coding, billing, and IT system questions and training.
Assist in the preparation of various state and local tax returns.
Participate in annual physical inventory at branch locations.
Provide support for various audits performed by banks, insurance companies, state and local governments and the Company’s CPA firm.
Work on special projects as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a CPA strongly desired.
3 to 5 years of accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
The combination of public and private accounting experience in a multi-location company is a plus.
Proficiency with Excel required and exceptional MS Office skills.
Experience with midrange computer systems, applications, and IT reporting systems.
Must be self-motivated with ability to quickly learn on the job and be adaptable to new assignments and learning opportunities.
Ability to work well with people at various levels (including non-financial people).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to work independently and provide creative real-time problem-solving solutions.
Must possess strong analytical skills, detail oriented and trustworthiness.
