POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Cost Accountant will play a key role in the accounting department and will have significant influence in building relationships with operations.
Responsibilities include accounting and analysis for many aspects of a manufacturing operation with a primary focus on Capex and fixed assets.
Position requires excellent analytical skills, the ability to be a self-starter, desire to continually learn and expand within the company and motivation to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
The position is in our Mays Landing, NJ manufacturing facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Understand the general accounting process, including G/L, intercompany transactions, subledger reconciliation, etc.
Work with operations to ensure expenses are allocated appropriately.
Work closely with operations to understand manufacturing related variances to both standard and to budget/forecast.
This includes material usage and purchase price variances, as well as overhead variances.
Manage financial components of Capex.
This includes overseeing the AFE process, payback calculation, spend tracking and reporting and Fixed Asset accounting.
Providing analysis of manufacturing performance and spending trends and partnering with operations teams on corrective actions or other cost savings opportunities.
Create and posts journal entries, ensuring that business transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with policy.
Assist in preparing monthly financial statements.
Development of financial management reporting and analytics that highlight critical performance metrics.
Assist in the creation of standard work processes for site finance, ensuring internal controls and efficiency.
Partner with Operations and the site Controller to develop targets using financial analysis and scenario planning.
Assist in annual budget and periodic forecasting.
Ensure inventory control through oversight of cycle count and physical inventory processes with root cause analysis and corrective action.
Periodic review of Excess & Obsolete for reserve calculations and commercial opportunities.
Performs reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts and verifies accuracy of statements.
Performs additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervisor/management.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Accounting or Finance
Experience: 3 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing company, with cost accounting experience.
Computer Skills: High proficiency with Excel and integrated accounting software.
